Meet the Man we Honor, Jack Moran

Jack and Marlene Moran Family Moran Family by Christmas Tree

Jack Moran was a one-of-a-kind, larger-than-life guy. He fiercely loved his wife, family, and friends.

Jack enjoyed nothing more than a cold Budlight paired with his favorite past-time, golf. Jack didn't need a 5-star course to enjoy the game either. He was just as happy hitting a ball around in his own backyard as he was at the most elite of golf courses.

Jack was also a long-time resident of Wilmington and a die-hard Wildcat. Jack loved to tell anyone who would listen about his football days and his legendary 99-yard, record-setting touchdown.

He spent most of his weekends exploring trails around town with his partner in crime, Prince. He was an ardent supporter of conserving the land for future generations.

Jack passed away in December 2019 after a three year battle against his toughest opponent yet, Glioblastoma.

100% of proceeds from our work will go to support charitable causes close to Jack's heart and scholarships in Jack's name.

About the Foundation

Our mission is to raise funds to support organizations that provide health care for patients and their families who are stricken with cancer related illnesses. The JMCF raises awareness and funding for Glioblastoma. We primarily donate to Massachussetts General Hospital (MGH) to assist in funding for research to improve the lives of those with Glioblastoma.

What is Glioblastoma?

According to the Glioblastoma Foundation, they state that "Glioblastoma ... is the most aggressive type of tumor that arises in the brain. It is one of the most lethal forms of brain cancer. The current standard of care (consisting of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy) is ineffective, and the median survival of a person diagnosed with Glioblastoma is about 15 months; without treatment, it is a paltry 3-6 months. Although radiation and chemotherapy prolong life, they greatly reduce quality of life - so much so, in fact, that some patients opt out of treatment."

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)

Since 2021, the JMCF has raised more than $55,000 towards efforts to understand and treat Glioblastoma, and we hope to continue to support the fight against Glioblastoma to help support patients and families affected by this cancer. Please read more about the JMCF/MGH partnership by reading the latest report from MGH, link below.
